World-writable permissions
chmod 777 (or equivalent) lets every user on the machine write those files. That is how shared boxes get persistence and backdoors.
Command
sudo chmod -R 777 /var/www
Rendered on the server from the query string — works without client JavaScript.

Safer alternatives
Drop sudo unless you know why
Most project installs do not need root. If a README insists on sudo, ask why — it is often leftover copy-paste.
Use the least permission that works
chmod 755 path # or 644 for files
If a web server needs write access, grant it to one user or group — not to the world.
Read it as if a stranger sent it
AI chat will cheerily suggest pipe-to-shell installs. If you would not run this from an unknown Slack DM, do not run it from a model either.
